Overview

Overlooking the bluff, this home is designed to maintain a sense of transparency through the main floor to the city views below. Framed by a steel and glass block entrance facade and complete window wall, the main living space represents a dramatic volume, overlooked by the second storey above. Acute angles in the window wall, at the kitchen and living room create an outdoor “room” protected from the elements but open to the sky above via an occulus cut into the projecting soffit. Circulation is given a theatrical presence in the great room via a ramp which extends the length of the space and allowing for a gradual progression. The house is capped by a roof top observatory.
