A 95 room addition to the historic log building at Lake Louise, the new structure had to fit within an extremely tight building area due to constraints of a river setback and major sewer trunk line. It was crucial that the new development did not dramatically alter the ambience of the hotel’s original log building. It was also necessary to provide an environment in balance with the Post Hotel’s world famous restaurant. Contextually, the Swiss owners of the hotel required an architecture that would reflect their own heritage and the mountain setting in which they were now located. Local woodworker Bill Weber helped the design team achieve the resulting effect of ‘rustic elegance’.
